The Xbox mini refrigerator, officially released this week, brings next-generation style to your drinks and snacks at a price of $100. However, you get what you pay for, as far as the Xbox mini-fridge is concerned, this means that the cooler is too loud and maddening in most settings.

Out of the box, I was excited about the extremely stupid thing I ordered and set it up next to my entertainment center so that I could easily enjoy caffeinated beverages while playing and working. I plugged it in-it was a challenge in itself, as if the plug didn't want me to experience what happened next. I turned on the light and smiled. Then I turned on the cooling switch, and when the sound of the jet engine erupted from the small refrigerator, I flinched in horror. Make sure your voice is turned on before playing the video.

When the disc is spinning, the sound of the Xbox mini refrigerator can easily be as loud or louder as the actual Xbox Series X or PS5. In fact, at 50 decibels, it seems much louder than the Xbox itself. Instead of using some kind of refrigerant (such as a refrigerator) for cooling, it uses thermoelectric cooling. The idea is that it does not need to use hazardous chemicals, and the cost will almost certainly be lower, but it also means that the fan basically just keeps drawing hot air from the main room to lower the temperature. I asked the manufacturer whether the Ukonic fan would shut down, and the answer was no.

The fan is designed to run continuously.

If you have been playing games and have planned to make your system have its own fan, then the Xbox mini refrigerator may not bother you. However, if you want to hear ambient noise or have a conversation with your loved ones at a reasonable volume, then the Xbox mini refrigerator is not an option at all.
