A teenage boy was stabbed to death in a feud over mobile phone in Dhaka’s Kathalbagan area on Thursday night.
15-year-old Md Shipon used to work at a fridge repairing workshop and lived with his family at the staff quarters on the Green Road.
Kalabagan police officer-in-charge Saiful Islam said that they arrested four youths over the murder.
The police said that there might have been a clash over a cell phone and that led to the murder.
Shipon’s father Mojibur Rahman said that a youth named Shawdhin was involved in criminal activities in Kathalbagan area and ran a teenage gang.
Shipon used to accompany Shawdhin, the father said, adding that the family got him engaged in workshop to get rid of Shawdhin.
Shawdhin and some of his associates called out Shipon from his home on Thursday night and stabbed him to death, the father also said.
Shipon was found near Kathalbagan Bazar Mosque at about 10:30pm and was rushed to Green Life Hospital. Later, he was transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the attending doctor declared him dead.
Mojibur later filed a case against four people over the incident, said the OC.
The police arrested the suspects, namely Swadhin, his wife, his brother Rabbi, and their mother.
The OC said that Swadhin was engaged in cell phone snatching. He was arrested and recently got released.
The police said that Swadhin had a previous feud with Shipon over a snatched cell phone and that might have led to the murder.
Shipon had multiple stab wounds on his body. The body has been sent to the morgue at DMCH for a post-mortem examination, said the OC.
