A couple modified a campervan during the lockdown and traveled in the UK and parts of Europe. Alex and Emma are behind the travel website Travel Beans. They recently traveled in Scotland for a few weeks, sharing their trips on Instagram and Youtube.

How do the couple stock up on a long journey?

The couple told Express.co.uk that they had a refrigerator in their camper van and that they adhered to basic principles when stocking up.

Although the couple did stock up on food, they also like to eat locally while traveling.

Alex said: "We really like to stop at a local street shop or something to pick some ingredients. It's good."

He continued: "Especially around Scotland, there are so many amazing seafood that you can stop and pick.

"It's always good like interacting with the locals and everything."

In addition, the couple's storage settings help to adopt more temporary food methods.

Alex said: "We only have a relatively small refrigerator, which may last us a few days."

Emma added that the couple had "grand ideas" when preparing meals, but "reality is" different.

She said: "We tend to buy sandwich ingredients and make them as needed. It's easy."

When the couple cooks in their van, they tend to prefer recipes that require the least preparation.

Emma said, "We have hot rice like curry. It's just that you don't need a lot of pots and pans."

Emma admits that when it comes to storage refrigerators, "To be honest, we are not the most organized people."

However, the couple tended to own some items.

Alex said: "There are some things we always have. We always have things like pasta."

The couple also always made sure to have breakfast ingredients such as bacon and cheese.

The couple detailed their camper stove settings, and they adjusted it to make it "more like camping."

Emma said: "In any case, our kitchen setup is very basic.

"We didn't even install sinks or taps because we wanted to be able to do it like camping.

"We want to spend a lot of time outdoors because the reason we own a camper is to spend time outdoors.

"So, we only cook or wash in it when it rains or when it's rubbish."

After Emma and Alex chose not to install the stove in the van, they used the stove.

Emma said: "We use the camping stove, mainly because we can choose to cook outside if we want. We can use it in the van."
